OYEBANJI, FAYEMI COMMISSION ITAPA–OMU–IJELU ROAD, REAFFIRM COMMITMENT TO EKITI’S RURAL DEVELOPMENT
Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, on Friday joined former Governor Dr. Kayode Fayemi to commission the newly constructed Itapa–Omu–Ijelu Road, a major infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity and economic activities in the northern part of the state.
The event, which drew a large crowd of excited residents, traditional rulers, government officials, and community leaders, marked yet another milestone in the Oyebanji administration’s drive to open up rural communities and enhance agricultural productivity.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Oyebanji described the project as a fulfillment of his administration’s promise to continue and complete all people-oriented projects initiated by previous governments. He commended Dr. Fayemi for laying the foundation for sustainable development in Ekiti, adding that the present government is committed to deepening that legacy.
> “Our government is about continuity and impact. This road will ease transportation, encourage commerce, and connect our farmers to markets. We are ensuring that no community is left behind in the journey of progress,” the Governor stated.
Dr. Kayode Fayemi, in his goodwill message, lauded Governor Oyebanji for his consistency in delivering quality infrastructure across the state. He noted that the Itapa–Omu–Ijelu road holds economic significance for local farmers and traders who rely on it for daily movement of goods and services.
> “This project reflects the spirit of collaboration and continuity in governance. What matters is not who started a project, but that it serves the people and improves their quality of life,” Fayemi remarked.
Residents of the area expressed joy and gratitude to the state government, describing the project as a “long-awaited relief” that will reduce travel time and enhance access to healthcare, education, and markets.
The commissioning ceremony also featured cultural displays and traditional blessings by community monarchs, who thanked the Governor for his inclusive leadership and development focus.
The Itapa–Omu–Ijelu Road is part of the Oyebanji administration’s broader infrastructure renewal plan under the Shared Prosperity Agenda, aimed at strengthening road networks, rural development, and regional integration across Ekiti State.
