President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Major General W. Shaibu as the new Chief of Army Staff, a move aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture. General Shaibu, a Kogi State native, hails from Akpagidigbo in Ofu Local Government Area.

A Distinguished Military Career

General Shaibu is a highly decorated and experienced officer with a distinguished career in the Nigerian Army. Before his appointment as Chief of Army Staff, he served as the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, leading military operations against insurgency in Nigeria’s North-East. He also commanded the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri, where he concurrently served as Sector 1 Commander of Operation Hadin Kai.
