Odeyemi-led Ekiti PDP declares any other state congress, exco illegal, absurd.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has described a purported State Congress reportedly held at NTS, Ado Ekiti, as illegal, unwarranted and an exercise in futility.
The party said the congress conducted by Wike/Fayose- led PDP lacked legal backing and therefore has no legal standing.
This position was made known by the PDP State Secretary, Kole Olodo, while reacting to the development in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday.
Olodo maintained that the current state executive committee of the Ekiti PDP, led by Tunji Odeyemi, remains the only legitimate leadership of the party in the state.
According to him, the executive emerged from a congress conducted and approved by the Umar Damagum-led PDP, which he said is duly recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He added that all actions taken by the Damagum-led leadership, including the Ekiti PDP congress and governorship primary, have been affirmed as legal by the Federal High Court in Abuja in a suit involving Oluwole Oluyede and INEC.
Olodo questioned the legitimacy of the reported congress, asking which recognised PDP authority conducted and supervised the exercise in Ado Ekiti.
He also referenced the recent judgment of the Court of Appeal in Ibadan, which nullified the PDP national convention that produced the Kabir Turaki-led leadership, noting that the ruling did not validate any alternative faction.
“For emphasis, the Tunji Odeyemi-led PDP Executive remains the authentic and legally recognised leadership in Ekiti State. Any other executive is null and void,” Olodo stated.
He further declared that any caretaker arrangement or structure allegedly set up by faction linked to Wike/ Fayose lacks constitutional backing and should be disregarded.
The party urged members at ward and local government levels, as well as the general public, to ignore any parallel congress or leadership structure not recognised by the party’s lawful authorities.
Olodo stressed that no individual, regardless of status, has the power to dissolve or replace duly constituted party executives before the expiration of their tenure.
While reaffirming its commitment to unity and peace, the PDP called on aggrieved members to embrace dialogue and work collectively towards the success of the party in the June 20, 2026 governorship election.
“Our desire for peace should not be misconstrued, but rather understood as a sincere commitment towards unity, stability and eventual victory of our great party,” he added.
