SENATOR ARISE NOT TOO OLD FOR SENATE, EXPERIENCE MAKES HUGE DIFFERENCE IN LEGISLATURE

Our attention has been drawn to a post being circulated on some social media platforms and credited to a faceless organization that goes by the name “Concerned Citizens of Ekiti North” titled “No Waste Recycling, Daddy Must Rest.”
Although we would have ignored the post but the innuendoes in the said post are targeted at our principal, Senator Ayo Arise hence our response which is aimed at setting the records straight.
First, we want to affirm that Senator Ayo Arise is firmly in the race for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the Ekiti North Senatorial District and he is the frontrunner for the ticket.
It is the inalienable right of Senator Ayo Arise to run for Ekiti North senatorial seat again because he is not barred from doing so by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the APC constitution, the Electoral Act 2026 and the party guidelines to seek the office again.
Senator Ayo Arise is not too old to run for Senate again as being peddled by mischief makers. He is sound in body, mind and intellect. Senator Ayo Arise is physically and mentally fit for the demands of legislative duties if and when elected by the votes of the people of Ekiti North Senatorial District.
All over the world, experience matters in legislature. Returning legislators have better opportunities than rookie legislators and they don’t need to waste the first few years learning the ropes of what legislative business requires. This time around, Ekiti North deserves to be represented by a Senator that will command the respect of his colleagues and Senator Ayo Arise fits the bill.
For example in the U.S. Senate, Chuck Grassley remains the oldest sitting member at 92 years old. It must be borne in mind that the average age of senators at the start of the 119th Senate in early 2025 was approximately 63.9 years. 43 U.S. Senators are 69 and older. The Senate requires experience that is why it is reserved for matured minds.
The remaining 19 oldest U.S. Senators ranked by age include Bernie Sanders (84), Mitch McConnell (84), Jim Risch (82), Angus King (81), Dick Durbin (81), Richard Blumenthal (80), Ed Markey (79), Mitt Romney (79), Mazie Hirono (78), Jeanne Shaheen (78), Peter Welch (78), Roy Wyden (76), Patty Murray (75), Debbie Stabenow (75), John Reed (75), John Boozman (74), John Cornyn (74), Susan Collins (73) and Shelly Moore Capito (72).
The Senate is not designed for babies. It is for matured minds. It is always peopled by eminent and distinguished individuals who have garnered experiences and made impacts in various fields of human endeavours and blessed with previous stints in governance and leadership at the highest level.
Senator Ayo Arise is in the race again by popular demand of the people of Ekiti North who are nostalgic about his stellar performance during his last tenure and they are wishing for the return of the glory years when he was their representative in the Red Chamber of the National Assembly.
We are using this opportunity to tell all who care to listen that Senator Ayo Arise is in the Ekiti North senatorial race to restore the glory years and re-enact the golden era of robust and quality representation, sponsorship of life-changing motions and bills, result-oriented lawmaking, excellent performance of oversight functions, attraction of legacy projects and unprecedented empowerment of the constituents.
Since Senator Ayo Arise left the upper legislative chamber, the people of Ekiti North Senatorial District have not gotten the fair share of what is due to them when compared to what constituents are enjoying in other senatorial districts within and outside Ekiti State.
Senator Ayo Arise’s competence, advocacy, visibility, connections with people and institutions that matter, experience, pedigree and influence as an experienced legislator are never in doubt and he is imbued with the desire to serve the people diligently again.
The legacies of Senator Ayo Arise which include key capital projects, empowerment initiatives and superior legislative service are available for all to see and he believes that he can do even better if given the party’s ticket and later elected at the next National Assembly election.
If given the mandate again, Senator Ayo Arise will become a ranking member and he has an opportunity to also become a principal officer and given chairmanship and membership of key committees at the 11th Senate and these offer him opportunities to bring home multiple goodies for the people of Ekiti North.
Senator Ayo Arise’s latest quest for Ekiti North senatorial district seat is not about himself but giving the people he hopes to represent a better deal and opportunities to better their lives and give the landscape a new face of transformation through a tested and trusted representation.
We urge the APC as a party and the entire people of Ekiti North to entrust Senator Ayo Arise with the senatorial ticket and their votes for his election into the Senate for him to give them the quality representation and make a difference again.
Senator Ayo Arise has done it before, he will do it again even better this time around.
