FAILED REPRESENTATION AND BROKEN EXPECTATIONS: WHY EKITI NORTH DESERVES BETTER
The people of Ekiti North Senatorial District deserve a representative who is proactive, visible, and committed to delivering real dividends of democracy.
Representation is not merely about occupying a seat in the Senate; it is about translating the hopes and expectations of the people into meaningful development and impactful policies. Sadly, the current reality under Senator Cyril Fasuyi falls far short of these expectations.
One of the major concerns is the glaring lack of performance. Effective representation requires active participation in legislative duties, sponsorship of impactful bills, and consistent advocacy for the needs of the constituency. However, there has been little to show in terms of tangible achievements that directly benefit the people of Ekiti North. The absence of notable legislative impact raises serious questions about the effectiveness of the current leadership.
Equally troubling is the lack of infrastructure development across the senatorial district. Roads remain in poor condition, public facilities are neglected, and there is no visible commitment to initiating or attracting major developmental projects. Infrastructure is the backbone of economic growth, and its neglect continues to hinder progress and limit opportunities for the people.
Another critical issue is the lack of youth employment and empowerment. The youths are the backbone of any society, yet many young people in Ekiti North remain unemployed and unsupported. There have been no significant empowerment programs, skill acquisition initiatives, or job creation efforts that can uplift the younger generation and secure their future. This neglect has left many youths disillusioned and without hope.
Furthermore, there is a noticeable lack of engagement with youths and community leaders. Representation should be inclusive, involving regular consultations with stakeholders, community leaders, and young people to understand their needs and challenges.
Unfortunately, there appears to be a disconnect between the senator and the people he represents. This gap in communication and engagement has further alienated the electorate.
Ekiti North deserves leadership that is responsive, accountable, and development-driven. The district needs a senator who will prioritize the welfare of the people, invest in infrastructure, empower the youth, and maintain strong ties with the community.
As the future approaches, the people must carefully assess the quality of representation they have received and make a decision that reflects their desire for progress, inclusion, and sustainable development. The time has come to demand better and choose a path that guarantees real growth and meaningful change for Ekiti North.
