IKOLE FOR SENATE: A JUST AND LONG-OVERDUE DEMAND
For decades, the people of Ikole Local Government Area have remained committed stakeholders in the political and democratic journey of Ekiti State and Nigeria at large.
Despite our population, contributions, and unwavering loyalty to party structures, Ikole has continued to be sidelined when it comes to senatorial representation in Ekiti North Senatorial District.
Today, the call for Ikole to produce the next Senator is no longer a mere request, it is a legitimate demand rooted in justice, fairness, and equity.
This position is not championed by a few individuals alone. It is a collective voice echoed by:
Concerned youths across Ikole communities
Traditional women leaders (Iyalojas and Iyaloja-Generals)
Market women associations
Community stakeholders and opinion leaders
The unity of these groups clearly reflects a shared conviction: the time for Ikole is now.
Ikole has contributed immensely to the growth of Ekiti North through votes, leadership support, and grassroots mobilization. Yet, the senatorial seat has consistently rotated without giving Ikole its fair turn. This imbalance must be corrected in the interest of peace, inclusion, and sustainable political stability.
Zoning the senatorial seat to Ikole Local Government is not about sentiment, it is about:
Promoting fairness among all local governments
Strengthening party unity
Encouraging wider participation in governance
Upholding democratic principles of equal representation
As we approach another electoral cycle, we urge political leaders, stakeholders, and party decision-makers to listen to the voice of the people and do what is right.
Ikole for Senate is not just a slogan,it is a movement for justice.
Signed:
Ikole LG Youths
(For Justice, Equity, and Fair Representation)
