PETITION FOR REPRESENTATION: IKOLE FOR SENATE 2027

A Mandate for Equity, Justice, and Fair Play

I. The Core Demand: End 28 Years of Political Marginalization

For nearly three decades, the Ikole Local Government Area (LGA) has remained the silent engine of the Ekiti North Senatorial District. We deliver the highest voter turnout and maintain the largest population, yet we are consistently denied a seat in the Red Chamber.

Since the return to democracy in 1999, every other local government within our district Moba, Ido/Osi, Ilejemeje, and Oye has produced a Senator. Ikole alone stands excluded. This is no longer just a political oversight; it is a systemic disenfranchisement of Ekiti’s second-largest voting bloc.

II. The Historical Imbalance (1999–Present)

The history of representation in Ekiti North reveals a glaring and persistent omission of our people:

1999–2007: The seat was held by Moba LGA through the late Senator Afolabi Ayo and Senator Ayo Arise.

2007–2015: The seat was held by Ido/Osi LGA through Senator Olubunmi Adetunmbi.

2015–2019: The seat was held by Ilejemeje LGA through Senator Duro Faseyi.

2019–2023: The seat returned to Ido/Osi LGA under Senator Olubunmi Adetunmbi.

2023–2027: The seat is currently held by the Oye/Moba axis through Senator Cyril Fasuyi.

2027–2031: It is time for Ikole LGA. This is our legitimate agitation for justice.

III. Why Ikole? Why Now?

We are not asking for a favor; we are demanding equity based on our significant contributions to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the state:

Demographic Strength: Ikole is the most populous LGA in the district and the second-largest in all of Ekiti State.

Proven Loyalty: We consistently deliver the highest number of votes, providing the bedrock for party victories in every election cycle.

Qualified Leadership: Our community is home to seasoned professionals, intellectuals, and experienced leaders who are ready to serve the district with distinction and integrity.

IV. Our Prayer

We, the Concerned Youths and Traditional Women Leaders, humbly appeal to Your Excellency and the National Leadership of the APC to:

Zone the 2027 Ekiti North Senatorial Ticket exclusively to Ikole Local Government Area.

Correct the Historical Injustice that has seen our people marginalized for 28 years.

Ensure Fair Representation to maintain party harmony and reward the unwavering loyalty of the district’s largest constituency.

“Justice is the first condition of humanity.”

We stand united in this legitimate demand. We believe in your vision for a fairer Nigeria, and we trust that the cries of the Ikole people will finally be heard and acted upon.
