With the grace and power of God,” Gbegede Á-gbina Ni 2026 Auga New Yam Festival was Honourable Bode Obanla’s bold promised to the people of Auga Akoko Community while declaring open the 2025 Edition of the Festival open on Saturday 5th July,2025.
Hon. Obanla,the Senior Special Assistant, SSA to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on Community Engagement, Ondo North stormed Auga-Akoko with a powerful delegation of his friends, fans, political admirers, and families to celebrate the day with his community.
Obanla, a Prince from the famous Obanla Dynasty and his entourage on arrival at the Town Square the venue of the event was received with a rousing welcome by the Chiefs and dignitaries with songs, drumming and wild jubilations.
Without allowing the steam to cool down went straight to the Alauga’s Palace to pay homage to Kabiyesi Oba Samuel Kehinde Agunloye.
During his brief courtesy call to Oba Agunloye, Obanla congratulated Kabiyesi on behalf of his entourage for witnessing another New Yam Festival.Alauga,Oba Agunloye received Obanla warmly and with his Olori prayed for him for all his contributions towards the unity and development of Auga-Akoko Town.
From there he went to pay homage to his mother,Grand Ma,Mama Bintu Obanla and members of the Obanla Dynasty and the extended families.
Obanla who was the Special Guest at the event while declaring the Festival open harped on the significance of the Annual New Yam Festival to the Auga Community.
Obanla popularly called Agbeti-Of-Ondo Politics by his numerous admirers said the New Yam Festival is very important to Auga Community because it is moment the people always show sincere appreciation to God for their bountiful harvests from their farms.
In his admonition, Obanla said,”I want to thank my people in Auga Community for sustaining this age long tradition, observing and respecting the various taboos associated with Festival.
The New Yam Festival has becomes the unifying and rallying point for the entire Community which has continue to solidify our unity as one indivisible entity”.
Obanla also used the occasion to encourage and extended hands of fellowship to other Auga Sons and Daughters at home and diaspora to rally round and come and support the Festival and other platforms that can bring unity and accelerate development of Auga-Akoko.
Obanla and his entourage took time to dance to the beats of Taiye Turaya Highlife Bands music with the various age grades.
The Leader of the Legislative Arm of Akoko North East Local Government Council and a son of the Soil, Rt.Honourable Tajudeen Agunkejoye eulogise Obanla whom he said God has been using to develop,unite and build Auga Community.
Rt.Hon.Agunkejoye declared before the crowd that,” I came home to be doing Masquerade and play the role of the Community Chief Priest but Obanla hand picked me from nobody to become somebody and made me not only a Councillor but the Leader of the House.
Am eternally grateful for Obanla,the Agbeti-Of- Ondo Politics for all the good work he’s doing in Auga Akoko, Isowopo and in Ondo State.
I prayed that God in his infinite mercies will continue to guide, protect,bless him with long life,good health and more wisdom to lead us to the promise land” Agunkejoye concluded.
