Ekiti 2026: “Governor Biodun Oyebanji is the Only Agenda We Have in Ekiti South” — Yemi Adaramodu

In a pointed declaration of political unity and purpose, Senator Yemi Adaramodu of Ekiti South Senatorial District has affirmed that the only agenda for his constituency is the re-election of Governor Biodun Oyebanji in the 2026 governorship poll.
Adaramodu, who serves as the Senator representing Ekiti South and the spokesperson for the Senate, stated the endorsement is rooted in the governor’s performance and the tangible impact his administration has had across the district.
“My personal comment is that Governor Oyebanji is doing remarkably well. He has fulfilled his responsibilities effectively … I see the roads that he has built; I see the hospitals; I see the schools … So definitely, the only agenda before Ekiti South now is to return Governor Oyebanji for a second term and after that we’ll know what to do,” Adaramodu declared.

A performance-based endorsement

Adaramodu emphasised that his support — and by extension, that of Ekiti South’s political leadership — is based on the governor’s ability to turn the state’s resources into visible development. He told the press:

> “He is providing a lot of infrastructure and human development … I am an eyewitness of what he is doing.”
Meanwhile, stakeholders across Ekiti South’s 64 party wards had earlier met and unanimously endorsed Oyebanji and his deputy, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, for a second term. They cited improved road networks, expanded power supply, human-capital development and strong political inclusion as key justification.

Continuity vs. experimentation

Highlighting the stakes for 2026, Adaramodu and others warn against what they call “trial-and-error” governance. He and his colleagues argue that the state’s progress so far must be consolidated rather than broken by a leadership change at this juncture.
Adaramodu pointed out that Ekiti South has no other pressing agenda besides securing continuity: “My party has leaders … these people will then sit down and do the needful when that time comes.”

Looking ahead

With support from the district’s National Assembly members, local government leadership and party elders, the push is on for Oyebanji’s second-term bid. The argument being made: the governor has built the foundation, now is the time to deepen and extend it.
Opposition voices, however, especially within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have already declared they will field their own candidate and are not part of any tacit endorsement of Oyebanji, signalling a competitive race ahead.
As the 2026 contest looms, the message from Ekiti South is clear — for those aligned with the ruling party, Governor Oyebanji isn’t just a candidate: he’s the agenda.
