FAYOSE AND ONI: THE TWO VERITABLE PILLARS OF EKITI POLITICS.
Fayose Pays Courtesy Visit to Former Governor Segun Oni

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, paid a surprise visit to former Governor Segun Oni at his Ifaki Ekiti residence. While the visit was initially reported to be related to Fayose’s 2026 gubernatorial ambition, the governor clarified that it was merely a courtesy visit.
Purpose of the Visit
Fayose emphasized that the visit was not politically motivated, stating that “leadership comes first, Ekiti comes first.” He expressed his desire for unity and support in moving Ekiti State forward, highlighting the importance of putting the state’s interests above political differences.
Significance of the Visit
The visit between the two former governors is seen as a gesture of goodwill and a demonstration of Fayose’s commitment to building relationships with key stakeholders in Ekiti State. Former Governor Oni reportedly welcomed the visit, describing it as “brotherly” and a positive development for the state.

Current Political Context
It’s worth noting that Fayose and Oni have both been involved in recent political developments in Ekiti State. Some aides of Fayose and Oni have defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing a desire to work towards the betterment of the state and the country. Meanwhile, Fayose and other former governors have expressed support for the current governor, Biodun Oyebanji’s, initiatives.
