Alleged Plot to Link Akinlayo Davidson With Political Violence Condemned as Desperate Propaganda
The camp of Hon. Akinlayo Davidson Kolawole has condemned what it described as a deliberate and politically motivated attempt to associate the federal lawmaker with alleged acts of violence ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary election in Ekiti State.
In a press statement personally signed by Hon. Akinlayo Davidson Kolawole, the lawmaker firmly denied any connection with the suspects arrested by the Ekiti State Police Command, insisting that the allegations against him were fabricated to tarnish his reputation and weaken his political standing within the party.
Hon. Akinlayo stated that he remains committed to democratic principles, peaceful political engagement, and the rule of law, stressing that he has never sponsored thuggery, intimidation, or violence at any point in his political career.
According to him, the sudden attempt to drag his name into criminal allegations reflects the level of desperation among certain political interests threatened by his growing acceptance and grassroots support across the Moba/Ilejemeje/Ido Osi Federal Constituency.
The federal lawmaker emphasized that elections should be about ideas, performance, and leadership capacity rather than false accusations and orchestrated campaigns of calumny aimed at misleading the public.
He described Ekiti State as a land known for political enlightenment, maturity, and respect for democratic culture, adding that the people of the state would not be deceived by attempts to manipulate public sentiment through sensational allegations.
Hon. Akinlayo further called on security agencies to ensure that investigations are conducted professionally and without prejudice, while also cautioning against the politicization of security matters.
He maintained that every individual accused of wrongdoing deserves fair treatment under the law and warned against using unverified claims to destroy reputations or create political instability.
The statement also appealed to APC members and supporters to remain calm and focused ahead of the party’s primary election, noting that violence and hatred have no place in the democratic process.
Hon. Akinlayo reassured party faithful that he remains fully committed to the unity, progress, and success of the APC, while pledging to continue promoting peace and responsible political conduct.
He equally appreciated his supporters, political associates, and constituents for standing by him amid the controversy, assuring them that truth would prevail over falsehood and propaganda.
“As a public servant entrusted with the mandate of the people, I remain committed to lawful conduct, democratic values, and peaceful coexistence. I completely dissociate myself from any form of criminality or violence,” the statement read.
The lawmaker concluded by urging all stakeholders involved in the APC primary process to place the interest of the party and the peace of Ekiti State above personal ambitions and political rivalry.
Signed:
Hon. Akinlayo Davidson Kolawole
