The Ekiti State Government is set to establish a commercial goat farming hub in Otun Ekiti, aimed at boosting livestock production and improving the livelihoods of rural farmers. The project, supported by the World Bank, will enhance goat production, promote agribusiness, and strengthen the goat value chain in the state.

*Key Features of the Project:*

– *Commercial Goat Farming Hub*: The hub will serve as a model for modern goat farming practices, providing training and production center for farmers to access improved breeds, veterinary services, and modern husbandry techniques.
– *Economic Opportunities*: The project is expected to open new economic opportunities for farmers and youth in the area, increasing income and revenue generation for the people and the government.
– *Women and Youth Empowerment*: Women and youth will play a central role in the project’s implementation, with the hub serving as a central point for aggregation, processing, and distribution of goat products.

The Oore of Otun Ekiti, HRM Oba Adekunle Adeagbo, has pledged the support of the traditional institution to ensure sustainability and ownership of the hub. The project is part of the broader Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES) programme, which aims to boost livestock production, build resilience against climate change, and ensure sustainable livelihoods in Nigeria.
