A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Muyiwa Olumilua, has congratulated Governor Biodun Oyebanji on emerging as the party’s consensus candidate for the 2026 governorship election.

Olumilua, a former Commissioner for Information, said in a statement on Wednesday that the widespread support for the governor reflects his performance and the impact of his administration over the past three years.

He described Oyebanji as a dedicated leader whose projects and programmes align with the people’s needs, noting that his unanimous affirmation by 885 delegates and other stakeholders during the party primary sets the tone for victory in the June 20, 2026 election.

According to him, Ekiti has recorded significant progress under Oyebanji in areas such as education, health, agriculture, and human capital development, leading to broad support from across the state.

The Ikere-Ekiti–born politician said that the ongoing commissioning of projects by serving and former governors highlights how Oyebanji has justified the people’s mandate since 2022.

He praised the governor’s inclusive approach to governance, which he said has earned the backing of former governors, including those in the opposition, helping to restore stability and peace in the state.

Olumilua said, “I want to join others to celebrate and congratulate our amiable Governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji on his affirmation as our consensus candidate for the next year’s governorship election in Ekiti State.

“I have no doubt in my mind that the process represented the yearnings and expectations of the majority of people of the state who have witnessed the transformations being carried out by the administration in the last three years.

“Indeed, we are happy to witness and be part of history in the state as the governor’s unanimous endorsement send a strong signal for a new beginning in the State’s political space.

“Like the APC delegates, the people of Ekiti are waiting and getting set to reward the governor with their votes across the 177 wards in the next year’s election for his superlative, impactful and strategic governance for him to continue for a second term till 2030.”

He pledged to mobilise support for the governor across the 16 local government areas to ensure a convincing victory in the election.
