HOPE FOR GRASSROOTS ENTREPRENEURS: REP. BIODUN OMOLEYE DISTRIBUTES ₦30 MILLION BUSINESS SUPPORT TO WIDOWS AND TRADERS
In a bold effort to strengthen small businesses and support vulnerable members of society, the Member representing Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II in the House of Representatives, Biodun Omoleye, has disbursed a total of ₦30 million in financial grants to widows and petty traders across his constituency.
The empowerment initiative was designed to provide financial relief and stimulate grassroots economic activities by helping beneficiaries expand their businesses or start new ventures. The programme targeted market women, small-scale traders, and widows who often face financial limitations in sustaining their livelihoods.
During the disbursement programme, Hon. Omoleye explained that the intervention was part of his commitment to improving the welfare of his constituents and reducing the economic challenges facing families at the grassroots. According to him, providing direct financial support to small business owners is one of the most practical ways to strengthen local economies and encourage self-reliance.
He emphasized that many traders and widows possess strong entrepreneurial skills but lack the capital needed to grow their businesses. By providing grants rather than loans, the initiative aims to remove financial pressure while giving beneficiaries the opportunity to invest directly in their trades and improve their income streams.
The lawmaker encouraged the beneficiaries to make productive use of the funds by reinvesting them into their businesses. He noted that responsible management of the support received would not only improve their personal livelihoods but also contribute to economic growth within their communities.
Beneficiaries of the programme expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful. Many noted that the financial support would enable them to restock goods, expand their trading activities, and better cater for their families amid prevailing economic challenges.
