By Comrade Idowu Afuye

In what has been described as a remarkable demonstration of internal democracy and political maturity, an INEC-registered Civil Society Organisation has commended the large turnout of All Progressives Congress (APC) members during the just-concluded ward congress held across various local government areas of Ekiti State.
According to the observers, the exercise reflected the strong unity, discipline, and organizational capacity within the ruling party, as members trooped out in their numbers to participate peacefully in the selection of ward executives. The organisation praised the orderly conduct, transparency, and cooperation exhibited by both party officials and security agencies throughout the process.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the spokesperson noted that “the level of enthusiasm and decorum displayed by APC members in Ekiti State is commendable. It shows that democracy is deeply rooted in the state and that the people are committed to strengthening the party’s internal structure.”
The organisation further applauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its oversight role, ensuring compliance with due process and fairness during the congress. It also appreciated the efforts of the Ekiti State APC leadership for their commitment to peace and inclusiveness.
The Civil Society Organisation concluded by urging other political parties to emulate the APC’s approach, stressing that credible and transparent internal party elections remain the bedrock of a sustainable democratic system.
Indeed, the impressive turnout of APC members in Ekiti State has once again proven that the party remains the dominant and most organized political force in the stat anchored on unity, participation, and progressive ideals.
