PROTECTING EKITI’S AGRICULTURAL FUTURE: BOLUWADE CHARGES COMMUNITIES ON SUSTAINABILITY OF L-PRES PROJECTS

In a decisive move to strengthen agricultural development and ensure long-term food security, the Ekiti State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Ebenezer Boluwade, embarked on an inspection tour of livestock infrastructure projects executed under the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES) programme across the state.

The inspection exercise reflects the government’s unwavering commitment to boosting livestock production, empowering farmers, and building a resilient agricultural system that can withstand economic and environmental challenges. The L-PRES initiative, designed to enhance productivity within the livestock value chain, stands as a strategic intervention aimed at transforming rural livelihoods and promoting sustainable agribusiness.

During the tour, the Commissioner emphasized the critical role of host communities in safeguarding these facilities. He stressed that beyond government investment, the true success of the projects lies in proper maintenance, collective responsibility, and active community ownership. According to him, protecting these infrastructures is essential to ensuring that they continue to serve present and future generations.

Mr. Boluwade further reiterated that the state government remains committed to supporting farmers with the necessary tools, infrastructure, and policies required to thrive. He called on stakeholders, community leaders, and beneficiaries to collaborate with the government in preserving the projects, noting that agriculture remains a key driver of economic growth and food sufficiency in Ekiti State.

The inspection not only underscores accountability in governance but also signals a proactive approach to sustaining development initiatives that directly impact the people. With continued cooperation between government and communities, Ekiti’s agricultural sector is poised for greater productivity, resilience, and shared prosperity.
