PRESS STATEMENT
RE: ARREST OF INDIVIDUALS LINKED TO HON. AKINLAYO DAVIDSON KOLAWOLE
Our attention has been drawn to the ongoing narrative surrounding the arrest of certain individuals allegedly linked to the political structure of Hon. Akinlayo Davidson Kolawole.
It has become necessary to clearly state that a number of those arrested are not members of our political team or supporters of Hon. Akinlayo Davidson Kolawole. Available information indicates that some of these individuals are non-state actors who are directly receiving salaries and patronage from the Ekiti State Government and are being used to create unnecessary tension and confusion ahead of the primary election.
We strongly reject every attempt to falsely associate such individuals with our camp in order to tarnish the image and reputation of a man who remains widely accepted, loved, and respected across Ekiti North Federal Constituency II.
For the avoidance of doubt, only two individuals among those arrested are known members of our team — Mr. Ibitoye Babatope and Mr. Boluwatife Ishola — who serve strictly as media aides. Their roles within our structure are purely related to media, communication, and political publicity, and they have never been involved in any form of violence or unlawful activity.
Hon. Akinlayo Davidson Kolawole remains a peaceful democrat whose popularity and acceptance among the people speak loudly for him. He has consistently engaged with constituents through consultations, ward visits, and grassroots mobilization without resorting to intimidation or violence.
We therefore call on security agencies and the general public to carry out proper investigations and avoid being misled by politically motivated narratives aimed at discrediting a credible and widely accepted aspirant.
We also urge all supporters and party faithful to remain calm, law-abiding, and focused as the democratic process continues.
Signed:
Akinloya Media Teams
