WHERE THERE WAS NO ROAD, THERE IS HOPE: DARAMOLA’S AYEDUN INTERVENTION CHANGES THE STORY

His years in the National Assembly, one of the most powerful testaments to the leadership of bimbola Oluwafemi Daramola lies not in words, but in the earth itself in the roads carved out of previously inaccessible terrain in Ayedun, Ekiti.

For years, many rural communities in the area lived with a quiet but heavy burden: isolation. The roads linking farms to towns were not just bad they were, in many cases, non existent or completely impassable during the rainy season. Farmers, who form the backbone of the local economy, faced daily struggles moving their produce. Harvests often went to waste, not because the land did not yield, but because there was no reliable path to the market. What should have been a source of prosperity became a cycle of loss.

It is within this context that the “Abomire 3” road intervention becomes more than just a project it becomes a lifeline. With the deployment of heavy machinery, including graders and clearing equipment, these forgotten paths were opened up, leveled, and made motorable. Thick vegetation gave way to structured access routes, and muddy, treacherous tracks were transformed into usable roads that now connect people, farms, and opportunities.

But the significance of the road goes far beyond its physical appearance. It represents access to markets, to healthcare, to education, and to a better standard of living. For farmers, it means they can now transport their goods faster and more efficiently, reducing post harvest losses and increasing income. For traders and transporters, it opens up new economic routes. For residents, it restores a sense of inclusion no longer cut off, but connected.

There is also something deeply symbolic about this intervention. In many ways, the road reflects a leadership philosophy grounded in presence and practicality. It is not a distant promise or a policy trapped in paperwork; it is something people can see, use, and benefit from every day. The inclusion of on site supervision by Daramola’s team further reinforces this hands on approach ensuring that the project was not just initiated, but properly executed to serve its purpose.

In rural development, roads are often the first step toward transformation. They attract movement, encourage trade, and lay the groundwork for further infrastructure. What has been done in Ayedun is, therefore, not an isolated achievement but the beginning of a broader ripple effect one that will continue to shape livelihoods and local development for years to come.

Anchored in the belief of “Nitori Ojo Ola Wa”Because of Our Tomorrow this road project captures the essence of forward thinking governance. It is a reminder that sometimes, the most impactful leadership decisions are not the loudest, but the ones that quietly and steadily change lives.

In the end, the road is more than a path through the land, it is a path to possibility.
