LIGHT AND WATER: HOW HON. BIODUN OMOLEYE’S INTERVENTIONS ARE TRANSFORMING RURAL COMMUNITIES IN EKITI
Across several communities in Ekiti State, a quiet transformation is unfolding as access to essential infrastructure begins to improve the daily lives of residents. Through initiatives facilitated by the Member representing Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II in the House of Representatives, Biodun Omoleye, communities that once struggled with basic amenities are now witnessing meaningful progress.
One of the most impactful interventions is the provision of solar-powered boreholes in communities such as Iye-Ekiti and Osi-Ekiti. For many residents, especially children and women, access to clean water had long been a daily struggle that required travelling long distances in search of safe water sources. Today, the availability of these boreholes has brought relief and convenience, ensuring that residents can easily access clean water for drinking and household use.
In addition, the installation of solar-powered streetlights in locations including Ido-Ekiti, palace areas, market places, and Ikosu-Ekiti has significantly improved night-time visibility and safety. Streets that were once dark and unsafe now shine brightly at night, allowing residents to move freely while boosting commercial and social activities within the communities.
Beyond the physical infrastructure, these projects symbolize a broader commitment to grassroots development and inclusive governance. By prioritizing basic needs such as clean water and reliable lighting, the interventions are helping to improve public health, security, and economic opportunities for rural residents.
For many community members, the projects stand as clear evidence that responsive leadership can bring real development closer to the people. The boreholes and solar streetlights now serve as lasting assets that continue to improve the quality of life in the benefiting communities.
