As a means of strengthening food security and youth empowerment in the state, Ekiti State Government has officially launched the Fish Production Scheme- a decision designed to empower young people in modern aquaculture.

Under the amiable leadership of Governor Biodun Oyebanji BAO through the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security Hon. Ebenezer Boluwade, this represents another achievement in the administration’s drive to increase the means of livelihood of the citizens and diversify the state’s economy.

At the launching ceremony, officials of the ministry emphasized that the programme will provide hands-on training, access to improved techniques in fish farming, and packages to help beneficiaries establish thriving agribusiness businesses.

The administration has consistently placed youth development and food sufficiency at the fore of it’s agenda. By investing in fish production, the government is not only reducing dependence on imported fish but also creating new pathways for employment, wealth creation, and nutritional improvement for Ekiti people.

This is part of BAO’s broader agricultural plan, which aims at boosting productivity across key sectors, ensure food availability, and position Ekiti at the epicenter of agribusiness in Nigeria.

Imvestors and participants at the event commended the governor’s foresight, noting that such initiatives would help tackle lack of jobs, reduce poverty, and encourage more youths to see agriculture as a profitable and respectable enterprise.

With the launch of the program, the youths are expected to benefit from the programme, marking a fresh chapter in the administration’s commitment to building a self-reliant, food-secure and economically friendly Ekiti State.
