From Crisis to Clarity: Ifakiland Moves to Restore Honor, Enforce Justice, and Rebuild Trust

In a decisive move to address rising tensions and protect the integrity of the community, a high-level stakeholders’ meeting was convened on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at the Olufaki’s Palace. The gathering was presided over by His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) John Adegbenro Falore, Ajigbade III, the Olufaki of Ifakiland, with legal expert Tosin Durodola, Esq., serving as moderator.
The meeting brought together key voices across Ifakiland traditional leaders, members of the Olufaki-in-Council, the Olokun Family, representatives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), affected residents, and concerned members of the community. The objective was clear: to confront the crisis head-on and chart a path toward justice, peace, and restored unity.
At the heart of deliberations were two pressing concerns repairing the reputational damage caused by a controversial Facebook Live broadcast by Mrs. Fadekemi Kelechi on March 27, and engaging the Olokun Family to consider a pause in the execution of a valid court judgment.
Key Resolutions Reached After extensive deliberations, the assembly arrived at firm and far-reaching resolutions:
Immediate Image Restoration:
The community called for a swift and unreserved public apology from Mrs. Fadekemi Kelechi, including a full retraction of her earlier broadcast deemed misleading and damaging to the image of Ifakiland.
Legal Clarity on Land Ownership:
It was reaffirmed, based on court rulings and verified evidence, that the Olokun Family remains the legitimate owner of the disputed land located at Ajana along Esure Road, following a High Court judgment in Ido-Ekiti.
Pathway for Affected Buyers:
Community members who unknowingly purchased land from an unauthorized vendor, Mr. Ade Olajide, are to regularize their ownership by paying ₦400,000 per plot to the Olokun Family within six months from March 29, 2026.
Accountability for Wrongdoing:
The meeting strongly condemned the actions of Mr. Ade Olajide, identified as the root cause of the crisis, and resolved that he must face the full weight of the law.
Call for Unity and Peaceful Coexistence:
Residents were urged to rise above division, embrace harmony, and foster peaceful relationships within the community.
Rebranding Ifakiland’s Identity:
A collective commitment was made to uphold and promote the true image of Ifakiland as a welcoming, peaceful, and investment-friendly community.
This landmark meeting signals a turning point for Ifakiland a firm stand for truth, justice, and unity, as the community works to rebuild trust and secure a more harmonious future.
