HON. IDOWU AFUYE FILES DEFAMATION SUIT AGAINST SENATOR CYRIL FASUYI AND OTHERS
Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria —
Hon. Idowu Afuye has formally instituted legal proceedings against Senator Cyril Fasuyi and other concerned parties over alleged defamatory statements targeted at his person and political reputation.
The action, filed before a competent court of jurisdiction, seeks to address what Hon. Afuye describes as “a sustained campaign of falsehood, misrepresentation, and character assassination” aimed at discrediting him in the public space.
According to Hon. Afuye, the statements in question are not only inaccurate but have caused significant harm to his integrity, standing in society, and political career. He emphasized that the legal action is necessary to:
Uphold truth and justice,
Protect his reputation, and
Set a precedent against the spread of misinformation in the political arena.
“No individual should be subjected to deliberate falsehoods designed to destroy their name and credibility. This action is about justice, accountability, and the sanctity of truth,” he stated.
Hon. Afuye reaffirmed his confidence in the judiciary and expressed readiness to pursue the matter to its logical conclusion.
He further called on political actors and the general public to embrace responsible communication, respect for facts, and adherence to democratic principles.
The case is expected to commence hearing soon, with legal representatives on both sides preparing to present their arguments before the court.
