INVESTORS, VISITORS CAN START FLYING INTO EKITI AIRPORT FROM NOVEMBER – GOV. OYEBANJI

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has announced that commercial flight operations will commence at the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Airport from November 2025, marking a significant milestone in the state’s infrastructural and economic development drive.

The Governor made this known while speaking to journalists on the sidelines of activities marking his administration’s third anniversary. He said that all necessary regulatory and operational arrangements have reached an advanced stage, paving the way for investors, visitors, and residents to begin flying directly into Ekiti State.

According to Oyebanji, the commencement of flight operations will enhance ease of doing business, attract local and foreign investments, and position Ekiti as a strategic hub for agro-allied, tourism, and technology-driven ventures.

> “By November, investors and visitors will be able to fly directly into Ekiti. We have completed critical components of the airport project and are in the final phase of regulatory clearances with aviation authorities,” the Governor stated.

He explained that discussions with local and international airline operators were ongoing to finalize the flight schedules and routes, ensuring regular and affordable air services to and from Ekiti.

Governor Oyebanji emphasized that the airport’s establishment aligns with his administration’s Shared Prosperity Agenda, aimed at creating jobs, improving connectivity, and unlocking the state’s economic potential.

> “The airport is not just about transportation; it is a gateway to economic growth. It will serve as a catalyst for industrial expansion, agricultural exports, and tourism development in Ekiti State,” he added.

The Governor also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to maintaining strong partnerships with the federal aviation agencies and private sector operators to guarantee the smooth and sustainable operation of the facility.

The Ekiti Agro-Allied International Airport, initiated during the administration of former Governor Dr. Kayode Fayemi, was conceived as a multi-purpose infrastructure to support both commercial and cargo flights, particularly for the export of agricultural produce.

With the announcement of its November takeoff date, stakeholders have expressed optimism that the project will transform the state’s economy, improve accessibility, and open new investment frontiers for the “Land of Honour.”
